One lakh commuters hop on Delhi electric buses in just three days

Delhi government's electric buses got a bumper response from the people, as about one lakh commuters hopped on brand new electric buses in just three days to enjoy free rides. Of the total commuters, 40 percent were female passengers.

Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot took to Twitter to share the overwhelming response from Delhiites. He wrote in Hindi, which could be translated as, "It is a matter of great pleasure that our 150 new e-buses carried about 1 lakh passengers within 3 days, of which 40% are female passengers. We will continue to work in the same way towards strengthening the public transport of Delhi under the leadership of CM @ArvindKejriwal." (sic)

CM Kejriwal had flagged off 150 electric buses on Tuesday, May 24, announcing free travel for Delhiites on e-buses from May 24 to 26 to promote clean mobility.

SELFIE COMPETITION

To promote e-buses, CM Kejriwal has also kicked off a selfie competition where passengers post a selfie while travelling on a Delhi electric bus. The selfie contest named #IrideEbus is being run on social media and is flooded with selfies of commuters.

Commuters are asked to share their selfies to win an iPad.
